" Now the full number of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one said that any of the things that belonged to him was his own, but they had everything in common. And with great power the apostles were giving their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all. There was not a needy person among them, for as many as were owners of lands or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of what was sold and laid it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to each as any had need."
WHAT IS OUR GOAL?
Not only do we want to raise $38,000, but we would also like to see at least 131 people participate in our generosity initiative this year!
What amount is God leading you to give? Be prayerful, then obey! No guilt. No manipulation. Just obedience!
WHO WILL BENEFIT?
The first $12,000 is going to meet the various financial/physical needs of the attenders/members of THEMOVEMENT.CHURCH community. Whether it be for overdue bills, food, clothing, or money so that a family can have a good Christmas dinner, we are excited about giving to those in our church so that everyone has enough this holiday season!
The second $12,000 is going to be given to Elmhurst Community Prep so that they can cover many of the expenses (branding, uniforms, website re-design, staff off-sites, etc.) they will face when combining schools with Alliance Academy (the other middle school that meets in the building). The Oakland Unified School District is ill-prepared to provide much of the financing necessary to help this transition so we are going to extend God’s love by being a blessing to this school at a very critical time!
The third $8,000 is going to go to Brook Harney, our Discipleship Process Director. For the last two years, she has graciously and sacrificially fundraised 100% of her own salary. This year because of the great work she has done in helping us move forward in our vision of becoming a movement of disciples making disciples, our church has committed to pay her a salary. (This giving initiative will help us to cover a portion of this new expense.)
The final $6,000 is going to be placed into a savings account for our first church plant in 2020! We are excited to multiply our church by sending out Christopher and Brittany Stites (and a team!), in the fall of 2020, so that we can become a family of churches serving and blessing two public schools in the city of Oakland!
